New Psychic Cafe Mystery - The Cross Stitch Puzzle

Book 5 of The Psychic Cafe Mysteries is now out. It's 99c for a week, until 27th February. This one involves the art of cross stitch, which I love. If you scroll down past the book information, you'll see some of my projects.

The Cross Stitch Puzzle

A cross stitch event is being held at the café which psychic Karis Booth owns with her sister.
All is going well.
Until Karis unknowingly stitches the word MURDER onto her fabric. Realising this is a premonition, she shares her concerns with her sister and close friend. If there’s going to be a murder, what can they do to prevent it? And will the victim be a member of the craft group?
Karis’ only option is to consult her police contact. But it’s too late. A murder is committed the next day.
Karis soon receives psychic visions about the victim and her life. Hidden messages are revealed in pictures. Secrets are uncovered. Many people had reasons to hate the victim. But which one of them killed her?

I used to do a lot of cross stitching when I was younger, but as I got a bit older I began to struggle with the patterns. I suspect it had something to do with my ageing eyesight (!) I thought I wouldn't be able to do any more, but then I discovered stamped cross stitch kits which have the pattern printed on them. The pattern washes out once your work is completed.
I got my first one and couldn't believe how much fun it was to do - and so much easier on my eyes. This is the first one I completed. Butterflies - of course. I've just had it framed. The woman at the shop was most impressed with it :)

I'll put a link to the page on Amazon where I got this from, in case you are interested. The seller has lots of wonderful kits. If you're going to buy one, make sure you go for the stamped kit as that has the pattern on it. I didn't put some of the background detail in my picture as I thought the butterflies looked good without them.

This is the one I'm working on now:

And this is what the material looks like as you work on it. It's like painting-by-numbers, but with thread. The colours are a contrast to the thread you use which makes it easier to see where you're going.

This is the one I'm going to do after I've finished the above one. I'm already tempted to buy more kits even though I'm not ready for them yet. I think I'm becoming an addict!

I apologise now if I'm going to cause you to buy some of these wonderful kits. But they are fun to do. And relaxing - which is good for your mental health. There, I've justified my next shopping spree on Amazon.
